Not Enough Room In The Tomb

Picture Jesus standing in the bright sunlight outside the empty tomb. He takes a deep breath of that cool morning air then looks behind him into the shadows of the tomb where he hears voices and music. He is looking into the what-is-to-become of things.
At one point or another, you and I have spent some time in the tomb. This is where the story of the resurrection first began to sink in; where we first began to believe the story was true. Here we begin to preach and sing: He is risen! He is Risen! Alleluia!
Very nice - now get out of that tomb.
Singing Alleluia! takes on new power in the light of Easter morning. Out in the world is where faith kicks in. Otherwise holding the truth is like holding a candle and never lighting the wick. Alleluia? Some of us just mouth the word and hope others with more conviction will give it volume.
Those of us afraid of rejection, attack, ridicule, or death remain in the tomb. Dear God do not let me be that way! Tomb-dwellers! Take your faith outside! Give your soul breathing lessons and listen for the rustle of wings.
Angels? Always. But it is also the sound of your own wings unfolding. Wings you never knew you had. You couldn't open them before because there was not enough room in the tomb. Now there's a title for a song: Not Enough Room in the Tomb.
These are the wings of faith. Not to carry you away from trial - to bring you through.
Remember the ten lepers told to show yourselves to the priests. They must have hesitated at first, thinking, uh... shouldn't we be cured first? No - it was a step of faith to obey and move forward in faith. Along the way they were cured.
Stop waiting to be perfectly prepared and focus on being perfectly obedient. When we are willing to share what faith or conviction we have, our faith and conviction grows.
May the joy and conviction of the resurrection grow in us this Easter!
Sing it with me - this time with conviction: Alleluia! He is Risen!

Join Us In Praying The Divine Mercy Novena Beginning On Good Friday

In a recent post to our blog, I spoke about the feast of Divine Mercy. Beginning tomorrow, Good Friday, I encourage you to find a quiet place and block out some time - even 15 minutes a day - and join us for the next nine days, as we present a different group of souls to God each day.
This prayer culminates on what is becoming known the world over as Divine Mercy Sunday; the Sunday after Easter.
The prayer is simple and profound even if you were not raised in the Catholic faith. I hope a number of families out there will use this as part of their regular family prayer time. Those families not in the habit of praying together might use this as a starting point. The pace of the world quickly distorts the reflection of God's face imprinted on our families. So should we give up? No. We make bolder efforts to remind each other of the dignity God bestows on our family. We draw closer the ultimate holy family. Those who visit shut-ins might run an extra copy and spend that 15 minutes with someone who can't get out or might not have access to the internet. You come up with the other two-zillion ideas of how this effort might blossom for those in your family and parish.
In reviewing the different web sites that feature the Divine Mercy novena, we found a Divine Mercy devotional section at EWTN which, provides all the information we could have hoped to offer. What they present may stir questions about indulgences, repetitive prayer and more. I am happy to answer your questions through the blog - just send us an e-mail or post a comment to Along The Way.
Click here to visit the Divine Mercy micro site at EWTN, join us in prayer for the next nine days and watch the blog for answers to your questions.
Thank you for walking the path with us; sharing your prayers and gifts with generous hearts!
Faith, Bunk Beds And Donations

We've reached an important milestone in our fundraising for the RV: thanks to God, to so many of you and to the trusting disposition of an RV dealer in Tucson, we were able to take possession of the RV we needed with the promise that we would pay the remaining portion of the down-payment ($10,000) in April.
You can view this move as foolish or as faith-filled. For us it is a step of faith as well as a witness to the dealer. Money is dry leaves to God - and we trust he will move hearts to complete this witness to Divine Providence. Join us in thanking him in advance for how he plans to accomplish this blessing.
We are now moved into an RV with bunk-beds, more storage space, more living space and a table we can actually all sit at together! Thank you for the suffering you offered up, for your prayers, your donations and your uplifting words. All of these things combined reinvigorate us to continue hitting the road for the sake of Catholic families around our nation.
If you are able to help us in the coming weeks so that we can pay the remaining portion of the down-payment, we would be very grateful.
